I don't see conclusive evidence for any of these options I just want to point out that a natural virus can still accidentally leak from a research lab with no virus engineering or malicious intent involved (I understand the lab involved had had previous leaks). Some poor schmuck working at Wuhan Institute of Virology fucked up and tracked a bat virus they were working on down to the local fish market on his lunch break. it is a nefarious Chinese plot to infect the world with a poorly engineered virus that takes out a number of their own citizens or 3. someone ate bat soup (even though no bats were sold at the market) 2. Roughly 200m from the fish market identified as the epicentre of the spread (which fish market does not sell bats), is a virus research facility studying a variety of lethal viruses, including those harbored in bats. The virus having natural origins, and the virus having leaked from a research facility are not mutually exclusive.
